However, we also recognize the importance of flexibility and trust our employees to manage their schedules responsibly. About the role
We are seeking a Learning Experience Designer to join our Vehicle Operations team to design and scale learning experiences that build the skills, knowledge, and operational readiness required to safely and effectively operate, test, maintain, and support our vehicle fleet and associated operations. This role is critical in ensuring our operators and operations staff are prepared, safe, and aligned with best practices. You'll manage training content, drive onboarding, track compliance, and work cross-functionally to improve team knowledge and performance.
This is a highly hands-on role at the intersection of Learning & Development, Vehicle Operations, Engineering, and Technology. You will work closely with Vehicle Operations leaders, subject matter experts, engineers, and other cross-functional partners to translate complex operational processes and technical requirements into practical, engaging, and measurable learning experiences.
You will own the design of learning experiences across the employee lifecycle-from onboarding and foundational skills through advanced technical training, certification, qualification, and ongoing proficiency. You will also leverage AI and emerging learning technologies to make learning more scalable, personalized, experiential, and closely connected to the flow of work.
The ideal candidate is a strong learning designer who enjoys working in complex technical environments, can quickly learn unfamiliar operational domains, and approaches learning as a capability and performance problem-not simply a content-development exercise.
At Applied Intuition, you will:
- Design Vehicle Operations learning programs that build role-specific skills, knowledge, and operational readiness-from onboarding and foundational training through advanced technical skills, qualification, certification, and ongoing proficiency.
- Partner with Vehicle Operations leaders, engineers, SMEs, and cross-functional teams to identify capability gaps, define proficiency requirements, and translate complex operational, technical, and safety requirements into practical learning experiences.
- Design engaging, hands-on learning experiences using a blend of instructor-led training, vehicle-based practice, simulations, scenarios, assessments, job aids, and performance support to prepare employees for real-world operational environments.
- Apply learning science and performance-based design to determine the right solution for each business need-not defaulting to training-and create learning journeys that drive measurable behavior, skill, and performance outcomes.
- Leverage AI and emerging learning technologies to accelerate content development, personalize learning, enable on-demand knowledge and coaching, and create scalable simulations, practice, and performance-support experiences.
- Build and maintain high-quality learning content and curricula, including learning paths, facilitator and learner materials, assessments, job aids, and digital experiences, ensuring technical accuracy and alignment with evolving vehicle technologies and operational procedures.
- Measure and continuously improve learning effectiveness using learner feedback, proficiency data, operational performance, and business outcomes, with a focus on safety, quality, readiness, and time to proficiency.
We're looking for someone who has:
- 4+ years of experience in learning experience design, instructional design, technical training, or learning program management.
- Strong foundation in adult learning, instructional design, needs analysis, and learning assessment.
- Experience with Articulate Storyline/Rise or similar learning-authoring tools.
- Proven ability to translate complex business, technical, and operational requirements into structured, practical learning solutions.
- Experience developing training across multiple formats, including in-LMS, e-learning, documentation, presentations, video, and instructor-led/ hands-on learning.
- Strong project management and execution skills, with a proactive, self-directed approach to driving deliverables from concept to completion.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, stakeholder management, and SME partnership skills; comfortable working with operators, engineers, and product teams.
- Strong curiosity and ability to quickly learn complex technical and operational domains, with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment and continuously improve learning experiences based on learner and business needs.
Nice to have:
- Prior experience in AV, robotics, or related hardware/technical domains
- Familiarity with vehicle safety standards and operator onboarding
- Experience using tools like Confluence, Google Workspace, and LMS/LXP platforms and learning technology ecosystems (Ethena, Cornerstone, etc.)
- Experience designing learning for vehicle operations, automotive, autonomous vehicles, ADAS, robotics, manufacturing, logistics, field operations, or other safety-critical environments.
- Experience developing technical certification, qualification, or proficiency programs.
- Experience designing hands-on training, simulations, labs, or scenario-based learning.
- Experience using generative AI to improve learning design and development.
- Experience working closely with Engineering, Operations, Product, Safety, or Technical teams.
- Familiarity with operational metrics and performance-based learning measurement.Compensation at Applied Intuition for eligible roles includes base salary, equity, and benefits.
