WXIA/WATL-TV, TEGNA-owned NBC affiliate in Atlanta and WMAZ the CBS affiliate in Macon, is searching for an accomplished, strategic leader to serve as President & General Manager.

The President & General Manager is responsible for the overall performance of both stations and markets, setting strategy and leading the organization to drive revenue growth, deliver high-quality local journalism, strengthen financial performance, grow audiences and deliver meaningful community impact across platforms. The successful candidate will be a proven business and people leader who builds high-performing teams, identifies new opportunities for growth, drives innovation and creates a culture of collaboration and accountability across both markets.

Responsibilities:

Leads the overall strategy and performance of both stations and markets, with accountability for content, sales, brand and operations across all platforms.

Develops and executes short- and long-term strategies to grow revenue, audience, market share and profitability in each market.

Provides strategic leadership for each station’s content operation, ensuring high-quality, relevant journalism that serves its local community, grows audiences and strengthens each station’s brand across platforms.

Leads multiplatform strategy across both markets, identifying opportunities to expand audience reach, engagement, content and distribution.

Partners with sales leadership in each market to drive revenue growth, strengthen customer relationships and deliver effective advertiser solutions.

Develops and manages annual budgets and forecasts, ensuring strong financial performance and accountability against business objectives across both markets.

Builds, develops and leads high-performing leadership teams across both stations, establishing clear expectations and accountability for results.

Creates alignment across content, sales and other functions while ensuring each market is responsive to its unique business, audience and community needs.

Drives innovation and continuous improvement, identifying new opportunities to grow the business, strengthen both operations and better serve audiences and customers.

Serves as a visible leader across both communities and builds strong relationships with community partners, advertisers, viewers and other key stakeholders.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in journalism, business or related field and 7-10 years of progressive leadership experience in media or a related industry.

Proven track record of leading high-performing teams and delivering strong business, financial and audience results.

Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategy, translate priorities into action and hold teams accountable for results.

Strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets, forecasting performance and driving revenue and profitability.

Experience leading across multiple functions and building alignment among teams with different priorities and areas of expertise.

Strong understanding of evolving media consumption, digital and streaming platforms, and opportunities to grow audiences and revenue across platforms.

Excellent judgment and critical-thinking skills with a demonstrated ability to make sound, data-informed decisions.

Innovative and growth-oriented mindset with a willingness to challenge existing approaches and identify new ways to win.

Effective communicator and inclusive leader who listens well, develops talent and creates a clear, shared vision.

Demonstrated ability to represent the organization as a credible and engaged leader in the communities it serves.

TEGNA offers a generous Paid Time Off (PTO) benefit as well as nine paid holidays per year.
