POSITION SUMMARY:The Business Development Lead will drive strategic growth initiatives for Pharmacy, with a focus on National Account Integrated Pharmacy Sales. This role partners closely with senior leadership to develop and execute strategies that expand market share, accelerate client acquisition, and strengthen pharmacy solutions across the U.S. Employer business.
The ideal candidate leverages deep market expertise, data-driven insights, and strong cross-functional collaboration to identify new business opportunities, influence product and pricing strategies, and drive revenue growth. Serving as a subject matter expert, this role partners across Finance, Operations, Account Management, Product, and Sales teams to develop growth strategies and deliver market-leading solutions.
This position also builds and maintains key external relationships with brokers, consultants, producers, and clients, acting as a trusted advisor and advocate for Cigna's integrated pharmacy value proposition. Success requires executive presence, strategic thinking, relationship management expertise, and the ability to develop innovative approaches that differentiate Cigna in the marketplace and help win new business.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Strong relationship management skills, to set and meet shared expectations with clients and cross-functional partners.
- Ability to navigate an ever-changing landscape and a matrix organization.
- Strong presentation and interpersonal skills needed for gaining sponsorship, matrix organizational consensus, and leading presentations with key stakeholders on a range of pharmacy specific strategies.
- Conduct qualitative and quantitative analysis to identify market trends and recommendations.
- Pharmacy expertise is essential for success in this role. A strong background in health benefits or commercial employer lines of business is preferred. Health Plan, integrated value proposition experience is preferred.
- Ability to work in a dynamic business environment balancing competing deadlines.
- Strong strategic thinking and self-motivation are crucial for this role.
IDEAL CANDIDATES WILL HAVE A COMBINATION OF THE FOLLOWING:
- Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience,
- 5+ years applicable healthcare experience is required.
- 10+ years applicable pharmacy experience is required.
- Strategic and creative thinker with ability to translate strategies, market knowledge, data and customer insights into actions/requirements/implementation and drive results.
- Must have excellent presentation and communication skills and experience presenting to leaders across functional disciplines.
- Mastery of communication tools and software, including word, PPT and Excel.
- Ability to travel as needed to meet business objectives.
