We are looking for a Senior Data Scientist to join our Applied AI team. In this role, you will design, build, and deploy advanced machine learning and Generative AI solutions that improve and streamline business processes for large enterprise customers. You will translate complex business needs into robust technical solutions and production-ready models. You will collaborate closely with clients, business stakeholders, data engineers, ML engineers, and cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions and advance phData's delivery excellence.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead the end-to-end design, development, and deployment of machine learning and Generative AI solutions that deliver measurable business value for large enterprise customers.

- Translate ambiguous business requirements into clear technical specifications, model designs, and implementation plans in partnership with diverse stakeholders.

- Build, refine, and productionize data pipelines, features, and models, ensuring robust training, evaluation, monitoring, and ongoing performance management.

- Partner with data engineers, ML engineers, and other cross-functional teams to implement MLOps best practices that support scalability, reliability, and long-term model maintenance.

- Drive thought leadership by documenting approaches, creating clear visualizations and presentations, and contributing to community initiatives such as open source projects and talks.

About You

You are a technically rigorous, client-focused problem solver who enjoys working in a fast-paced, outcomes-driven environment. You are comfortable operating in distributed, global teams and partnering with colleagues across time zones.

Required Qualifications

Experience

- 3-5+ years of hands-on experience building models and developing algorithms for real-world applications and data-driven optimizations.

Technical / Functional Skills

- Deep knowledge of advanced mathematics, statistics, and machine learning, with expertise in deep learning, natural language processing, and computer vision.

- Mastery of Python and SQL, with strong computer science fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems.

- Hands-on experience with core data science tooling, including Python scripting, NumPy, SciPy, matplotlib, scikit-learn, Jupyter notebooks, and bash scripting.

- Practical experience with major ML algorithms and libraries, including XGBoost, Random Forests, time-series methods (e.g., Prophet), and other common modeling approaches.

- Familiarity with modern Generative AI and LLM techniques, such as RAG, context engineering, and agentic systems, and experience developing on cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Databricks using cloud-native AI services.

Education - If desired

- Advanced degree or evidence of exceptional ability in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, chemistry, operations research, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred qualifications help candidates stand out but are not required for success in this role.

- Previous consulting experience working directly with external clients or stakeholders.

- Experience explaining complex technical concepts and model outcomes to both technical and non-technical audiences.

- Demonstrated contributions to the data science community through open source projects, talks, blogs, or similar activities.

- Experience working on cross-functional teams in distributed or global environments.
