Staff Product Manager, Creator Community
The way learners want to learn is shifting from long-form, asynchronous courses toward ongoing relationships with experts and peers - access, live guidance, accountability, and staying current in fast-moving domains. Instructors are already building these relationships off-platform on Patreon, Circle, Discord, and Substack. This role owns Udemy's answer: the product surface that lets creators connect with, teach, and retain their learners over time, and keeps that value inside the combined Coursera + Udemy ecosystem.
What you'll own
Community & learner connection.
The messaging and comms layer that keeps creators and learners in contact between sessions - Q&A, announcements, and direct learner communications - so engagement becomes recurring rather than one-time.
Human-to-human learning.
Higher-touch formats where a creator's expertise shows up live: 1:1 connect, and VILT and webinars.
Instructor profiles & channels.
The creator's home on the platform - a profile and channel that promote their content and build their brand. As personalized, AI-driven discovery (like Helix) disrupts traditional course merchandising the way SEO decline reshaped search, browseable listings become less central to how content is found. Profiles and channels give creators a durable, owned surface to promote, contextualize, and extend their content inside an ongoing learner relationship - a new front door that doesn't depend on marketplace merchandising or the black box of AI orchestration.
Creator channels & tooling.
The tools creators use to build and run an audience - channel management, social/community tools, and subscriptions - including the recurring economic model (50/50 when Udemy sources the learner, 70/30 when the instructor does) that gives top creators a reason to keep building with us.
Flagship - Instructor Communities: from pilot to business (2027)
With the pilot launching soon, this role owns taking Instructor Communities from a 60-instructor test on Circle.so to a proven, scalable business line in 2027. Near-term, that means getting the pilot live on a Finance-supported manual billing bridge (Circle-hosted checkout on Udemy-owned Stripe accounts) while securing the committed Product/Engineering path to automated, in-house billing and payouts - Engineering has proposed a ~3-month build with no major top-line impact. Longer-term, it means turning early signals into a repeatable model: which interactions create value for learners, instructors, and Udemy, what drives conversion and retention, and how the recurring economic model scales beyond the initial cohort - across Product, Finance, Consumer, and Content/Instructor stakeholders.
Collaboration
Cohort learning. Partner with the lead PM who owns cohort-based learning to ensure community, profiles, and creator tooling reinforce cohort experiences rather than duplicate them.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience building products in EdTech, learning technologies or content authoring tools
- Experience with B2B2C business model
- Experience building, using, or experimenting with AI-driven products, particularly in the areas of content generation and editing, adaptive learning and personalization, automated quality assurance, and multimodal authoring support such as AI for video, audio, and translation.
If this opportunity interests you, you might like these courses on Coursera:
- Learning How To Learn
- Gen AI for Product Managers
- Data Analysis with Python
US Zone1: $188,400 - 235,500
The range(s) listed above is the expected annual base salary for this role, subject to change.
Salary is just one component of Coursera’s total rewards package. All regular employees are also eligible for a bonus program and equity in the form of RSU’s.
A number of factors are taken into account when determining pay, which includes: job level, location, training/education, business need, skill set and internal equity.
